Upper Slaughter is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of the Cotswolds, famous for its rolling hills and its mellow honey-coloured limestone towns and villages.
It has an historic Norman church, St Peter’s with parts dating back to the 12th century. The River Eye meanders through the village, passing under old stone bridges, the perfect place to sit and dip your feet in the water! You can walk out the door of the Chapel and join one of the many footpaths, crisscrossing the countryside, through water meadows and valleys, woods and ancient villages.
It is equally a fantastic area for cycling with quiet country roads hills stretching for miles over the Cotswold hills. For sightseeing, picturesque towns such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-Water, Broadway, Burford, Winchombe and Chipping Camden are all within easy reach. There are also now an abundance of great pubs and restaurants in the local area to choose from. A list of these can be found in the chapel. We also have maps and books on walking and cycling in the area.
